From the old town to its award-winning promenades and endless sandy beaches, Bridlington might just be the ideal place for your next family holiday. Here are five great reasons why your next holiday should be on the Yorkshire coast.

1. It’s easy to get to

No more tantrums in the airport, or lost luggage when you get there. Bridlington is easily accessible by rail, coach or car giving you plenty of flexibility for your travel plans. And if you decide to ditch the car, there are excellent public transport links by bus and rail to all the nearby sights including York, Manchester and the Yorkshire Moors. If you want to fly, then take a flight to Newcastle and drive down through the glorious Yorkshire countryside.

2. It has incredible beaches

Bridlington South Beach seems to go on forever, with sand for a million sandcastles. Winner of a quality coast award, this is the beach to head to when you want some peace and tranquility, even at the height of the summer season. Or walk the North Beach all the way to Danes Dyke on Flamborough Head, a unique and special site dating back to the Bronze Age.

3. You can bring the family pet

Head out to Flamborough and you’ll find dog-friendly beaches and pubs like the Ship Inn for a decent pint and food after a long walk. Don’t miss the Bull & Sun while you’re exploring the Old Town, and of course there are some incredible dog walks around Bridlington that are not to be missed.

4. The Old Town is unmissable

Steeped in old-world charm, Bridlington Old Town is one of the region’s best-kept secrets. A treasure trove of unique and independent shops, galleries and restaurants, the Priory Church dating from 1113AD is an architectural standout, and the nearby Bayle Museum is well worth a visit. With festivals and concerts to explore, the Old Town is a fascinating mix of the ancient and modern and not to be missed.

5. See a world-class band at Bridlington Spa

This multipurpose venue has played host to some of the biggest music acts in the world including the Rolling Stones, Oasis and The Who. The cafe is a great place to sit and unwind with its magnificent views over the beach and there’s always something worth seeing whether it’s a great band or family-friendly entertainment.
