What’s on in Bridlington this summer?

In January 2018, The Telegraph cited Yorkshire as the best UK holiday destination thanks to its natural beauty, its food and drink and its heritage. Amongst those travelling to Yorkshire, Bridlington holidays are a popular choice thanks to the nature, its Old Town and its beaches, among other reasons.

You’ll find holiday cottages in Bridlington to rent all year round, but in the summer, there’s even more to keep the whole family entertained. It’s in the summer months that the town is home to a huge number of events of all types – so if you’re planning a stay in one of our Bridlington holiday cottages in 2018, here’s why the summer months are a perfect choice.

For nature lovers…

Just north of Bridlington you’ll find RSPB Bempton Cliffs, home to some amazing seabird colonies. This summer, it’s also home to the National Whale and Dolphin Watch Week. From 10am to 4pm between 28 July and 5 August, the Seawatch event will see the team – and visitors – monitoring whale and dolphin sightings, as well as sharing information about the marine wildlife on their stretch of the coastline. Find out more here.

For family fun…

One of the biggest annual events in Bridlington is the Sewerby Gala, taking place on Sunday, July 29th at Sewerby. Along with plenty of food and drink – including a beer tent – visitors can enjoy helicopter rides, a dog show, a majorette competition, music and other entertainment, children’s rides and a whole host of stalls – see more here.

For car enthusiasts…

The 2018 Gala, Car Boot and Classic Vehicle Show, organised by the Bridlington Lions Club, takes place on Sunday, August 5th. It’s a free event that had 20,000 visitors in 2017, and as well as the classic cars on display, there will be a car boot sale (you might find some treasures…) and plenty of diverse stalls to browse. More details on the Bridlington Lions website.

For sports fans…

This summer, there will be plenty of sporting action on Bridlington South Beach. Enjoy the Beach Sports Festival on July 22nd, where you’ll be able to watch all sorts of sporting tournaments as well as get the chance to try activities yourself. There’s also the UKBT pro volleyball tour on August 11th and 12th – full details of both can be found here.

Whatever your tastes, there’s plenty going on in Bridlington this summer…the only tough decision will be what appeals most!
