Bridlington holidays are ideal for families, couples, singles and groups. This pretty seaside town offers holidaymakers far more than great beaches. You’ll discover there are lots of events, activities and festivals that take place in Bridlington throughout the year.
Sewerby Hall is one local attraction that’s well worth a visit during any Bridlington stay and really does offer something for everyone.
What’s at Sewerby Hall and Gardens?
Sewerby Hall is a Grade 1 building which was built by the local Greame family in 1714. The Hall has had many extensions since and features a gatehouse, orangery, stable block and portico. The property was totally redesigned and refurbished in 2014 and is now a recreation of the way an Edwardian home would have looked in the year 1910. Visitors can tour the Hall for a variety of interactive experiences. Curators are dressed in period costumes and visitors also have the opportunity to dress as servants or family members.
The Hall and gardens also host a variety of events throughout the year, including classic car rallies, historical re-enactments, art exhibitions and craft fairs.
Sewerby Zoo is home to a wide range of wild and domestic birds and mammals, including parrots, penguins, guinea pigs and monkeys. Children will particularly enjoy opportunities to get up close to some of the smaller creatures and daily feeding times are scheduled throughout the day.
Visitors can opt to visit the Hall only, or select a day pass and visit all three attractions at a discounted price. It’s possible to visit the gardens for free between the months of November and March. Family and group tickets are also available at very reasonable prices (insert link https://www.sewerbyhall.co.uk/prices-and-passes/).
It’s an easy stroll from Bridlington town centre to Sewerby Hall or you can take the Land Train. Buying a ticket for the Bridlington Land Train will give you a discount on entry costs to Sewerby. There’s also plenty of free parking on site.
