With Bridlington holidays, you are never far away from the sea and a wide range of different leisure choices – including many pet-friendly activities and lots of family fun ideas.

Though Bridlington itself has much to offer, many people stay there as it also makes the perfect base for exploring further afield too. When staying in Bridlington holiday cottages, you have lots of different options for excursions and adventures. Here are just a few examples.

Kirkham Priory

The beautiful riverside ruins of Kirkham Priory are around 30 miles away. This English Heritage site is in the Derwent Valley, so the journey there from Bridlington offers lots of lovely scenery. It’s a peaceful place with a rich history and a perfect picnic spot.

Staying in holiday cottages in Bridlington provides a great location for jaunts up the coast to Scarborough, a car journey of around 30 minutes. Further north and you can take in Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby too. Apart from shopping opportunities and a chance to explore a different beach, Scarborough also offers both an open-air theatre and the internationally acclaimed Stephen Joseph Theatre.

A trip of around 14 miles south of Bridlington takes you to the small seaside town of Hornsea, once famous for its pottery. An excursion here offers you a chance to stroll its quaint promenade and explore its iconic Victorian folly.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway

One of the most popular excursions from Bridlington is a short car ride to one of the moorland stations along this historic railway line. Surely one of the best ways to see how stunning this area is, you can take a leisurely trip through the countryside on a steam train.

Theme parks and family fun
