Walk the Wolds
The Yorkshire Wolds boasts some of the most tranquil countryside in England featuring rolling hills and valleys that seemingly go on forever. If you’re really adventurous, the National Trust Trail is 79 miles and takes up to 7 days to complete – but of course, you could just complete a section of it. There are also many circulars and shorter routes that are a must to take advantage of while you’re staying at the holiday cottages in Bridlington.
Go cliff Side: Bridlington to Flamborough Head
This is a popular 6-mile cliff walk on moderate terrain, perfect for hikers looking for a bit of a challenge. Beginning at the Bridlington harbour, this route takes you north past the Dane’s Dyke wooded valley and through the stunning chalk cliffs of South Landing. The walk finishes at Flamborough Head, a stunning seaside location with gorgeous bays, impressive cliffs and the oldest lighthouse in England!
Did someone say pub walk?
Rudston is one of the oldest inhabited villages in England. For a keen hiker, this is within walking distance of the Bridlington Holiday Cottages. For those looking for something a little tamer, it’s only a 15-minute drive to the starting point of this 1-mile pub walk. Starting and ending at the Bosville Arms, this path takes you by All Saints Church and the Rudston Monolith which is reputed to be the tallest standing stone in the United Kingdom.
This is just a small glimpse of the many walking routes you can choose from on a Bridlington holiday. Whether you’re up for a challenging hike or looking for a tamer stroll through the gentle hills, it’s obvious Bridlington is the perfect holiday spot for a hiker.
